Creative Writing Workshop
May 9, 2018 @ 10:30 - 12:30
Have you ever wanted to start writing, but
didn’t know where to start? Are you looking for a new hobby you can do anywhere at any time, to take a break from your caring role? Do you want the opportunity to explore your creativity and share your stories?
Starting on Wednesday 9th May, 10.30am-12.30pm, is Manchester Carers Centre’s very own Creative Writing Workshops! For 7 consecutive weeks Manchester Carers Centre will be running sessions, guided by an experienced tutor, teaching you how to get started writing, where you can get inspiration, how to research for your pieces of writing and much more. You will have the opportunity to share your work with the rest of the group and get constructive feedback from the tutor on how to further your writing.
During the session on the 23rd May you will go on a trip to the John Rylands Library and on the 13th June you will visit Manchester Art Gallery. Both these trips will provide you with inspiration for your writing, ensuring you never go without an idea.
At your first session you will be given a stationary pack with everything you need to get started, including a notebook and pens and refreshments will be provided at every session.
At the end of the 7 week course we will take you on a trip to the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth. We will take the train from Manchester to Keighley and then the summer steam train to the Museum. You will have the opportunity to view the vast collection of Bronte writings, which still today inspire writers, scholars and artists around the world. We will explore the grounds surrounding the Museum and lunch will be provided at the Museum café.
As there are only 12 places we are looking for individuals who can commit to the entire course, not just one or two sessions. Of course we understand as a Carer committing to 7 weeks can be difficult thus if you cannot make a session, or if something comes up unexpectedly, we totally understand, we just ask that you let us know.
