Manchester Carers Centre

Money and More

We work to help carers feel less stressed and worried about their financial situation.

  • Our grants service helps Carers access the funds for respite breaks, white goods, household items, driving lessons and tests, IT equipment and many more items.
  • We connect Carers with benefits and debt advice, budgeting resources and lots of money-saving tips.
  • We provide information and advice on energy efficiency, the Priority Services Register and provide homeowners with free Carbon Monoxide alarms.
  • We provide vouchers to cover the cost of essential household items such as air fryers, slow cookers and electric blankets.

The financial support we offer through the Money and More services has helped carers better cope with their caring responsibilities, helped them feel less stressed about their finances and has raised awareness of the financial support that is available to them in Manchester.

Testimonials

“My mother can watch her favourite TV shows on the laptop. I can do my college work whilst sitting with my mum so she doesn’t feel alone. She can also use the laptop to read online magazines and newspapers. With all these benefits, she doesn’t feel alone and she remains busy too.”

“The grant will mean a lot to me as a carer of my partner. If I get the driving license, I will be able to support my partner and make her daily life much easier and more comfortable.”

“I am grateful to be able to replace the old duvets which were very thin and old. The process was very simple – from applying and collecting the voucher to using it in store at the self-service till. Please pass on our thanks to those who fund initiatives like this. We are grateful for all your service does for people who are carers.”

“The pressures of being a carer and looking after your own wellbeing are so overwhelming and this would help me to have a short time away on my own to relax, this would also benefit my mental health.”
