Peer Group Activities 2019-2020
Manchester Carers Centre is very experienced at bringing Carers together as peers for social support and respite. Carers are able to express their frustrations and their anxieties in a safe place. They have the opportunity to meet others, to share experiences and support one another.
We operated a regular fortnightly drop-in for all Carers and have a range of other groups to support specific health and wellbeing needs. This year we delivered a total of 18 sessions in Ancoats.
This year also saw the successful launch of the Harpurhey Carers Project, a collaboration between Manchester Carers Centre and North Manchester Community Wellbeing Centre. This project hosted bi-monthly peer support health and wellbeing sessions for Carers in a locally based venue in Harpurhey, the second most deprived neighbourhood in Manchester.
In total we ran 13 sessions offering a varied programme.
