PEER GROUP ACTIVITIES 2022 – 2023
We delivered a total of 43 Carer Health and Wellbeing activities across all our services in 2022-2023. We understood that following the pandemic it was important for Carers to be able to reconnect in the community, and have the opportunity to meet their peers across a range of events. Over the year, we’ve held 32 activities for Adult Carers: 12 Short Breaks and 20 Workshops, all aimed at Carers living in North Manchester neighborhoods.
Some of our Short Breaks included: Halle Orchestra concerts at the Bridgewater Hall, theatre trips, museum and art gallery visits, as well as visits to places of historical interest. These Short Breaks gave Carers a well-needed break away from their caring role, which gave Carers the opportunity to visit somewhere new or do something they wouldn’t typically be able to do.
We were very fortunate to have been able to strengthen our partnership with CREATE, a national charity reducing isolation and enhancing wellbeing through the creative arts, to provide 12 workshops for Carers. The first series of 6 workshops focused on music and the second series of 6 workshops focused on ceramics. We also provided a further 8 workshops for Carers to help improve their health and wellbeing: 2 massage workshops and 6 Health and Wellbeing workshops in partnership with MCRactive. These workshops are opportunities for Carers to come together to learn a new skill and have some health and wellbeing time away from their caring role.
