There are a variety of support services available to unpaid carers living or caring for someone living within Manchester City Council. Click here for information on the Carers Network.
- Carers Manchester Contact Point– The contact point is the first point of contact for unpaid carers in Manchester. They can provide information on services in Manchester and advice on Carers Assessments and cost of living and benefits advice. Support for Parent Carers
- Manchester Parent Carers Forum– Manchester Parent Carer Forum provides an opportunity for parents and carers to receive information, share their voice and come together. Dementia Support Services
- Together Dementia Support– They have a range of vital social and support services across the Manchester city region to promote friendships, education, self-care and skills-maintenance for people living with dementia and their families. Financial Support

- Citizens Advice Manchester- Citizens Advice provide free, confidential, independent and impartial advice to help you find a way forward with your problems. They can be contacted on 0808 278 7800. See their website for more information: citizensadvicemanchester.org.uk
- Manchester City Council Cost of Living Helpline If you’re a Manchester resident and you’ve found that increases in food and energy bills mean you’re really struggling financially, help is available. Mental Health Services
- Greater Manchester Mental Health – If you are in crisis and feel that you are in need of support, you can call NHS 111 and select the mental health option. You will then be put in touch with your local crisis team. We encourage you to do this, they are available 24/7. See their website for more information: gmmh.nhs.uk/247-helpline
- Rethink Mental Illness is a leading national charity provider of mental health services that works tirelessly to transform the lives of everyone severely affected by mental illness. They provide over 90 services, 120 local support groups, and run campaigns that bring about real change. See their website for more information: rethink.org
- Rethink Local Support Group operates in Manchester for those experiencing mental health difficulties—irrespective of whether they have a diagnosis or are involved with mental health services—and families and Carers. - Shout – This is a text-based service, so you don’t have to talk: text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258 (support available 24/7). See their website for more information: giveusashout.org
- Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)– available everyday 5pm – midnight, either call 0800 58 58 58 or webchat is available on https://www.thecalmzone.net/.

Support for Young Adult Carers
- Young Carer assessments- Young Carers are entitled to an assessment and have to get in direct contact with Manchester City Council by calling 0161 234 5001. This is for Carers aged under 18. Carers aged 18+ are entitled to a Carers Assessment, which can be arranged with Carers Manchester. They can be contacted on 0161 543 8000
- Early Help– Early Help is a service provided my Manchester City Council that supports families when early indicators suggest things may not be going well at home. They are all about early intervention and prevention. - Kooth and Qwell– Kooth and Qwell provide free, safe and anonymous mental health and wellbeing support to young people and adults through the NHS.
